/> MoodifyPet Recycling & Sustainability Policy

We’re committed to reducing waste and helping you recycle as much of each MoodifyPet purchase as possible. This page explains how to recycle the packaging and what to do with the pendant at end-of-life, with simple prep steps you can follow at home.
Note: Local rules vary. Always check your city’s recycling guidelines.

What’s in the box

  • Paperboard carton

  • Protective pouch (

  • Hanging string (cotton or poly blend) and optional clip

  • MoodifyPet pendant (porous ceramic infused with our odor-neutralizing oil formula)

Quick guide

Component Material Where it goes Prep steps
Carton  Paperboard Curbside recycling (paper) Flatten; remove any loose film or stickers.
Protective pouch Plastic film (often LDPE or PP) Store drop-off film bins where available; otherwise trash if your city doesn’t accept film Empty and clean/dry. Look for a resin code (e.g., “♻︎4 LDPE”).
Hanging string Textile (cotton/poly) Textile recycling (if offered) or trash Remove from pendant before recycling other parts.
Clip  LDPE scrap Empty and clean/dry. Look for a resin code (e.g., “♻︎4 LDPE”).
Pendant Porous ceramic Reuse recommended; recycling options vary Place ceramics in dedicated recycling.

How to separate & prepare

  1. After ~30 days of use, remove the pendant from its hanging location.

  2. Disassemble: slide off the string and any clip.

  3. Sort by stream: paper to paper, film to store drop-off, metal to scrap/metal bin, pendant saved for reuse/return.

  4. Keep everything clean & dry—residues can contaminate recycling.

Reuse ideas for the pendant

While many cities don’t accept ceramics in curbside recycling, the pendant can keep working as a passive deodorizer in small spaces:

  • Inside shoe closets, gym bags, laundry hampers, diaper pails

  • Near trash cans or pet carriers

  • In mudrooms, garages, or cars (away from heat sources)

When the pendant no longer provides benefit, proceed to the options below.

End-of-life options for the pendant

  • Local guidance: Some municipalities or specialty facilities accept ceramics (e.g., reuse centers, mosaic/craft programs). Check your city’s waste directory.

  • Mail-back (by request): If you cannot find a local option, email info@moodifypetus.com with the subject “Pendant Return Options”. We’ll share the current take-back or aggregation options available in your area.

  • Last resort: If no reuse or specialty option exists, dispose of the pendant in regular trash. It is non-toxic and does not require hazardous waste handling.

Safety notes

  • Keep pendants and small parts away from children and pets.

  • If the pendant cracks, avoid sharp edges; wrap in paper before disposal or return.

  • Do not burn or incinerate any component.

  • Our odor-neutralizing blend is non-toxic and IFRA-compliant; normal handling and disposal are safe.

Packaging design & our commitments

  • We specify recycled content in paper packaging where feasible and continue to right-size cartons to reduce material.

  • We’re testing mono-material solutions and reusable display components to improve recyclability and cut waste.

  • We track diversion rates and continuously work with suppliers to increase recycled content and reduce packaging weight per unit.
